The BC Lions are proud to announce that running back Andrew Harris has been named the CFL’s Canadian Player of the Month for July.

Harris has had a noteworthy start to the 2014 campaign, highlighted by a 58-yard romp to the endzone against Saskatchewan in Week 3, the longest TD run of the season so far. He closed the night with 138 yards rushing on 18 carries and more than 200 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. The lofty numbers earned him his first Canadian Player of the Week nod and his first career Offensive Player of the Week accolade.

The standout performance caught notice of those around the league as Harris simply refused to go down on first contact, continually shedding tackles across the field.

The fleet-footed tailback didn’t slow down the following week during the Lions’ 41-5 ’ win over the Montreal Alouettes as he racked-up another 150 yards from scrimmage including 72 rushing yards and a major on 12 carries, earning him a second consecutive Canadian Player of the Week title.

Harris currently leads the CFL in rushing yards with 311 as well as yards from scrimmage with 579, including 268 receiving yards on 18 catches with two touchdowns, ranking him fourth in the league among receivers, and has been a driving force on the Lions offence.
