The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that defensive back Cord Parks has agreed to a contract extension keeping him in orange through the 2015 season.
“Cord was an excellent addition to our defence last year and he’s a key part of our future,” said VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono. “He has made a successful move to the weak halfback position and he’s proving to be a big-play guy as part of our league-leading pass defence.”
Parks was a West Division All-Star in 2013 after starting all 18 regular season games and notching six interceptions to go along with three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Through nine regular season games in 2014, the athletic defensive halfback has racked up 30 defensive tackles.
“Cord isn’t just a great football player, he’s a leader and a mentor to our younger players,” said head coach Mike Benevides. “This is great news for our team and our fans and I’m very pleased to know he’s with us moving forward.”
“I am grateful and excited to sign this extension,” said Parks, as the defender continues to prepare for the club’s game in Ottawa on Friday. “I truly love being part of this team and playing in this league.”
The next BC Lions home game is Saturday, September 13 versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 7:00 pm presented by Tim Hortons. Tickets in the Global BC Family Zone and Gemstone Gridiron Deck are on sale now – visit ticketmaster.ca or call 604.589.ROAR for more information.
