‎Just two games remain on the Lions’ 2014 regular season home schedule as the expansion REDBLACKS make their only appearance of the year on Saturday night at BC Place.

Fans attending the game can get their football engines started at the popular Nissan Street Party which kicks off at5:00 pm on the Terry Fox Plaza.

Saturday’s theme is Salute to Amateur Football and the club is pleased to welcome recent inductees to the BC Football Hall of Fame including members of the Lions’ 1994 Grey Cup championship team. To mark the occasion, Lions legend Lui Passaglia will serve as honorary captain and eight minor football teams from across the metro area will take to the field during halftime.

Scout Sleepover: Following the game, more than 500 local Scouts will hike up to the stadium’s fourth level to take in a movie before camping out for the night. The unique experience which has become a tradition during the football season is made possible through the very generous support of BC Place.

Game Overview
The Lions look to get back in the win column after a pair of tough road losses in Calgary and Hamilton over the past two weeks. Just four games remain on the club’s 2014 regular season docket including pivotal road games in Winnipeg and Edmonton. While the Leos currently hold down a crossover playoff spot, they cannot afford a letdown versus the expansion REDBLACKS who helped the Lions last week with a 42-20 win over Winnipeg.

Defence has been the Lions’ calling card all season and in four of the past five games, the club has prevented their opponents from finding the end zone including a 7-5 win over Ottawa in September. They’ll have to put up another strong effort on Saturday as Ottawa quarterback Henry Burris looks to build on a 284-yard passing performance last week and his club’s determined effort to play the role of spoiler.

Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian picked up another six stops and a sack to lead his teammates last Saturday and push his league-leading tackle total to 114 on the season. Just two tackles separate West Division’s top defensive player from establishing a new Lions single-season mark and he currently sits 16 tackles back of the CFL record of 130.

On offence, the Leos look to get back on track versus a grinding Ottawa defence as Kevin Glenn gets the start under centre. The veteran pivot has thrown for 3,018 yards so far this season putting him in the top-three among CFL quarterbacks. He’ll face an Ottawa secondary currently surrendering a league-high average of 265 passing yards per game.

With just 20 regular season games left on the entire 2014 CFL schedule anything can happen in the standings, but one thing is certain, the Lions will need to summon a significant team effort to overcome a vast array of injuries at key positions if they want to be part of the postseason.
