As postseason preparations shift into high gear, the BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that six players have been named to the West Division All-Star squad.
Offensive tackle Jovan Olafioye, linebackers Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian along with defensive backs Dante Marsh, Ryan Phillips and Cord Parks were selected by members of the Football Reporters of Canada as well head coaches from the West Division.
For Olafioye, it’s now four years running that the hulking right tackle has earned the honour (’12, ’11, ’10) as he also looks for his third CFL All-Star selection (‘12, ’11) and defend his title as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Lineman.
Bighill follows-up his selection last week as the Lions’ Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player with his second-straight West Division All-Star team appearance. He will be accompanied at the linebacker spot by teammate Solomon Elimimian who also picks up his second career selection following a tremendous rookie season in 2011.
It will be a decidedly orange secondary too as Ryan Phillips, Dante Marsh and Cord Parks each haul down divisional recognition.
For halfback Phillips it’s his fourth West Division nod (‘07, ’10, ’12) while the often-overlooked Dante Marsh also picks up his fourth such honour (’06, ’08, ’11) from the cornerback position. Newcomer Cord Parks makes a big splash in his first CFL season on the corner earning a spot with his six interceptions.
