Lions ship Banks to Bombers

The BC Lions Football Club announced Friday morning that defensive back Korey Banks has been traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in exchange for non-import receiver Kito Poblah.

Banks was originally acquired by the Lions in the 2006 Ottawa Renegades dispersal draft and appeared in 142 games over eight seasons for the Leos notching 27 interceptions, seven West Division All-Star selections and five All-Canadian nods.

“We’re grateful for Korey’s contributions to our club and we wish him the best in Winnipeg,” said VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono.

Poblah joins the Lions after three seasons in Winnipeg where he has appeared in 34 career games. The Montreal native and Central Michigan grad was a supplemental draft selection by the Bombers in 2011 with his best numbers coming in 2012 recording 41 receptions for 417 yards and a touchdown.
