Lions add experience and youth to secondary

The BC Lions Football Club today announced the signing of four import defensive backs including former NFL cornerback Brandon McDonald along with Tony Burnett, Dustin Harris and Jemarlous Moten.

McDonald joins the Lions following a six-year, 80-game NFL career in Cleveland, Detroit and Tampa Bay. The former fifth-round selection recorded 178 tackles and nine career interceptions.

Burnett was an undrafted free agent signing of the San Diego Chargers last year after a notable three-year career at USC. The former football walk-on and track and field standout appeared in 38 career games for the Trojans in various positions including cornerback, linebacker and safety.

Harris was a four-year starter at Texas A&M from 2009 to 2012 before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys last year. The Texas native dressed for 51 games over four seasons with the Aggies notching 119 defensive tackles, seven interceptions and 30 knockdowns.

Moten was an undrafted signing of the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 following a two-year run at Louisiana-Lafayette where he appeared in 26 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns recording seven interceptions two of which he returned for touchdowns to go along with 98 defensive tackles 15 knockdowns.

All four newcomers will hit the field in Kamloops on Thursday, May 28 in advance of Training Camp which kicks off on Sunday, June 1 presented by Sun Peaks Resort.
