After a playoff-clinching win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday night, the BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that defensive end Khreem Smith has been named the Defensive Player of the Week for his four-sack, eight-defensive tackle performance in the victory.
With the game still up for grabs heading to the final frame, Smith was unstoppable in notching all four of his sacks against Winnipeg quarterback Drew Willy. His first two came early in the quarter with the ‘Bombers set up on the BC side of centre all but eliminating one scoring opportunity. His other pair came with under 10 minutes left in the game forcing a punt on one set of downs and then creating a second-and-16 in Winnipeg territory on his final tally on the night.
Smith and the rest of the Lions defence return to the practice field today in preparation for their game against the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday night.
