The BC Lions along with the Saint Bernard Pass Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that Dylan Chapdelaine of the Vancouver Island Raiders is the recipient of the Wally Buono Award recognizing Canada’s outstanding junior football player for 2014.
Chapdelaine wrapped-up a notable four-year run with the Raiders in 2014 and earned All-Canadian status from his linebacker position in each of his four seasons. He was also named the BCJFC’s Outstanding Linebacker after recording 27 tackles last year.
Selected by Wally Buono along with daughter Christie, the annual winner must not only be an outstanding player on the field, but also demonstrate leadership and a strong sense of community away from the game.
“Dylan is clearly a fantastic choice for this award,” said Christie. “He’s not only a great player, but he’san equally great citizen and leader among young people in his community.”
Chapdelaine becomes the fourth Raider to take home the Wally Buono Award following Andrew Harris(2009), Michael Schaper (2011) and Jordan Yantz (2012).
