Training Camp Report: Day 10

Michiko Araki

It’s day ten of Training Camp and the Lions are looking good on the field.

The day began bright and early with a non-padded 8:30am practice with an emphasis on technique and repetition. In the afternoon, the players suited up for their last padded practice of the week at 3:45pm. During practice, the players went through several 1-on-1 drills in the red zone as they prepared for their first pre-season game this Friday against the Calgary Stampeders.

Throughout the day, several players outshined the rest on a beautiful, sunny day at Hillside Stadium.

Offence:

During skelly, Tim Vizzi made several catches with ease, continuing to play with the confidence which emerged during the Fan Fest showcase on Sunday. Veteran Manny Arceneaux also looked good today, making a catch in the end zone while also catching a deep ball during team. Brendan Bigelow has also been taking a few more reps and made several speedy cuts to reach the end zone during the team portion of the practice.

Defence:

The defence has been coming together well, especially in the back field. Standouts today included Alex Tillman, who had a pick during 1-on-1 and a knockdown during team, and Steven Clarke, who had a pick during skelly. Adrian Clarke also did well during team, having great positioning and shedding his blocks to pressure the quarterbacks to force several misthrows.
