The players got to have a bit of a late start today as they hit the field at 10:00am for walk-throughs before taking part in their final practice with helmets in the afternoon on another sunny day in Kamloops.
This marked the last skelly, 1-on-1, and team sessions before the team’s departure tomorrow for their first pre-season game against the Stampeders. The players, especially the rookies, were keen to make an impression on the coaches today and showcased some of their skills at practice in hopes of having more playing time on the road.
Offence:
Bryan Burnham and Cam Morrah both looked confident and ready at practice. Both have great hands with an eye for the ball, beating out the defensive backs to make several catches during team. Stephen Adekolu also had one of the more impressive catches, skying over two incoming defensive backs deep down field during skelly. Offensive lineman Kaycee Ike also looked great during team on pass protection.
Defence:
Myron Lewis has been a standout for several days now, showing effective field positioning and an ability to read plays resulting in a near pick during skelly. Jeremiah Johnson had some great looks at practice today with a great read which resulted in a pick deep down the field during team. For the D-Line, Craig Roh showcased great athleticism to make moves on the tackles to effectively pressure the quarterback.
Quotes of note:
Defensive Line coach, Robin Ross on Alex Bazzi, Tim Jackson, and Craig Roh: “They’re always playing fast, doing their assignments perfect, and running to the ball, and that’s a big thing we’re stressing right now.”
