After taking several days of rest from practice, the Lions are back at it again for the last week of training camp.
After several cuts were made to the roster following the first pre-season game against the Stampeders, the players looked as hungry as ever to earn their spots on the team and show the coaches what they’re capable of.
The players started the day with a short walk-through and was back on the field at 2:45pm for a padded practice. Today was also newcomer Jordan Rwiyamilira’s first practice with the team, and although he didn’t take any reps today, he was spotted alongside Coach Washington learning the calls and trying to immerse himself into the plays.
Offence:
2015 Draft pick Shaquille Murray-Lawrence, who has missed over a week of camp due to nagging injuries, looked great today on his first full day back on the field. Shaquille looked comfortable during team, making great spin moves and using his quickness to speed past the defence. Terence Jeffers-Harris and Stephen Adekolu were both productive today for the receiving corps, making great catches along the sidelines and shaking off the defensive backs during team play.
Defence:
On defence, veteran Ryan Phillips effortlessly caught a pick in the red zone while Ronnie Yell also recorded a pick during team. Michael Brooks was unstoppable during team today, breaking past the o-line by using swim moves to put pressure on the quarterback.
