Training Camp Report: Day 17

Michiko Araki

On the second last day of Training Camp, the Lions arrived for their last padded practice of the week on a perfectly sunny afternoon in Kamloops.

The beginning of practice focused on blocking, fundamentals, and 1-on-1 drills, and then proceeded to skelly and team periods where several players stood out today.

Offence:

On offence, the receivers were a tough match for the defence as Tim Vizzi and Cam Morrah led the team in receptions. During team, Vizzi made several catches and also had a for sure touchdown during skelly. Morrah was the target of the night as he hauled in two for sure touchdowns during skelly, shaking off the defensive backs and staying open to catch several passes with ease.

Defence:

On defence, Michael Brooks, Alex Bazzie and Jabar Westerman had notable performances during practice. During team, Brooks had a fumble recovery while Westerman was effective at rushing the quarterback for a sure sack and continuously mounted the pressure on the O-line. Bazzie also looked great on the field, breaking past the O-line and shedding his blocks to rush the quarterback for a sure sack.

Tomorrow marks the final day of Training Camp, and the vets will head home to prepare for their second pre-season game at David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium on Friday at 7pm against the Edmonton Eskimos.
