The first meeting of the Bombers and Lions this season is one the Leos definitely want back. After stringing together a flawless 14-play, 8:32 opening drive that ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Courtney Taylor, the Lions struggled through the remaining three quarters. You couldn’t ask for a better start to a game, but then they cooled off.
BC mustered just six more points the whole game as the Bombers stormed back in front a hostile crowd at Investor’s Group Field to down the Lions 23-13. “You can have one good drive, but if you let the wheels fall off it doesn’t matter,” said Andrew Harris about the Week 6 loss.
They’ll get a chance for redemption this Saturday in a game that has huge playoff implications for the Lions; a win will give them a solid chance at a playoff spot. BC is coming off a confidence-boosting win last Saturday over the Riders where rookie QB Jonathon Jennings exploded for 364 passing yards, throwing four touchdown passes, and picking up an additional 21 yards receiving…catching a touchdown pass of his own from Austin Collie.
“We’re finding our spark” said Manny Arceneaux after the game. True words. The Lions victory was a total team effort in every sense of the word. The game highlights speak for themselves.
From the defence laying down five sacks and three interceptions, to Andrew Harris and Manny Arceneaux adding 105 and 137 yards respectively to the Lions’ total of 526 total yards on the night, the team put on a show for those in attendace in BC Place.
