The BC Lions Football Club is pleased to announce that Andrew Harris, Adam Bighill, Ryan Phillips, Emmanuel Arceneaux, Jovan Olafioye, Bo Lokombo, Mic’hael Brooks and Richie Leone have been selected as CFL West Division All-Stars for 2015.
Harris returns to divisional all-star status for the first time since 2012 after notching his second-career 1,000-yard season and finishing second to Montreal’s Tyrell Sutton in rushing yards. He is also the club’s nominee as Outstanding Canadian.
Jovan Olafioye adds to his sixth-consecutive Outstanding Lineman nomination last week with his sixth divisional honour in-a-row. The hulking right tackle has not missed a single start over six seasons with the Leos. He’ll be looking for his fifth career league-wide honour later this month.
Adam Bighill comes off his second-career double nomination as the Lions’ Outstanding Player and Outstanding Defensive Player last week and now adds his fourth-consecutive West Division All-Star nod. Bighill led the CFL in defensive tackles this past season with 122 and was a unanimous selection among voters.
The longest-serving Lion in the line-up adds his fifth divisional kudos as Ryan Phillips and his six interceptions receive rightful recognition in the West. The 11-year pro, who hadn’t missed a single game in 180 opportunities coming into the season, will seek his fifth All-Canadian selection.
Emmanuel Arceneaux took his game to a new level in 2015 with a career-high 1,151 receiving yards on 76 receptions with nine majors and as a result, will celebrate his first West Division All-Star selection. The fifth-year Lion piled-up 403 yards after the catch this season and notched three games with 100+ yards.
Abbotsford, BC product Bo Lokombo enjoys his first selection nailing down the division’s special teams spot. The second-year linebacker led the CFL in special teams tackles with 24.
A pair of first-year Leos also collected division honours as interior defensive lineman Mic’hael Brooks and punter Richie Leone made the grade among voters. Brooks spent as much time in opposing team’s backfields as he did in his own defensive huddle on his way to 51 tackles, three sacks and an interception, while Leone led the entire league with a base punting average of 49.5 yards and a net of 38.3 yards both of which were four yards better than the next best punter.
