Bighill and Olafioye to represent West as Outstanding Players

The BC Lions are pleased to annouce that Adam Bighill and Jovan Olafioye have been selected to represent the West Division at this year’s CFL Player Awards.

Olafioye will represent the West as its Oustanding Offensive Lineman for the third time in his career, with the two previous selections coming in 2011 and 2012. The six-time West Division All-Star took home the award in 2012 and is matched up with Ottawa’s SirVincent Rogers for the league-wide honours. The hulking right tackle has not missed a single start over six seasons with the Leos.

For Adam Bighill, this is his first time representing the West at the league level as the nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player. The CFL’s tackle leader was selected as a double nominee for the Lions as their MOP and Defensive Player and was voted as a West-Division All-Star for the fourh consecutive year.

He will be up against Hamilton’s Simoni Lawrence as the CFL’s top defender. This is also the first year that Bighill has topped the tackles list, finshing the season with a whopping 122. 

The CFL Player Awards take place in Winnipeg on Thursday, November 26th.
