The BC Lions announced on Monday afternoon that slotback Emmanuel Arceneaux (knee) has been placed on the six-game injured list. Arceneaux suffered a torn ACL in the first half of Saturday’s loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
It will be a huge void to fill on offence as Arceneaux leads all Lions receivers with 32 catches and 553 receiving yards.
Head coach Wally Buono joined TSN 1040’s Matt Sekeres on Monday and had this to say:
“We did get some news we kinda were expecting from our medical staff. (Team) Doctor (Bob) McCormack had accessed Manny during the game, after the game, his assessment is usually pretty right on, but we didn’t want to speculate until they did the MRI. At this point, he’s put on the six-game and we’re going to assess in a week or so what the next step will be.”
“Knowing Manny, this is tough on him,” Buono added.
“He’s such a competitor and I know how much he wants to succeed and wants to do good and if this is gonna put him on the shelf then obviously, it’s going to be very painful for him.”
The Lions are currently on their third and final bye week before returning to practice on Saturday ahead of their home tilt with the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday, September 7th.
