“The Watermelon Smash has become the club’s greatest summer tradition, bringing the two fanbases together for some great, friendly competition between these passionate fanbases,” said Lions president Duane Vienneau.
“With the high stakes on the field and the fact we’re entering the second half of the season, anticipation will only continue to rise between now and Sunday.”
Festivities get going at NOON with our Backyard Party on Terry Fox Plaza. The first Watermelon will be smashed from 20 feet in the air on a scissor lift by actor Drew Ray Tanner, who serves as the Team Orange Celebrity Captain against his Green counterpart JoJo Mason.
The big competition between the Orange and Green fans officially begins at 2:30 pm. All smashed Watermelons will be donated to Alder Acres Family Farm.
This special pre-game bash also includes a musical performance from Josephine, face- painting, $5 beers (19 and over) and much more! Don’t miss out on Sunday’s big summer bash!
Fans can also purchase their 50/50 tickets with a GUARANTEED JACKPOT of $100,000! Proceeds go toward amateur football in British Columbia.
